Notes:
Simranjeet Singh suffered an apparent dislocation to his left shoulder at the close of Round 1. While James Paintin won the round, this was competitive. The round was completed and scored by Robert Jones. It was noted by the referee, supervisor and medical team that the left shoulder of Singh dropped at the end of the round following a clinch by the fighters. Upon walking back to the corner, Singh indicated his wish to retire to his corner who immediately advised the supervisor and referee.
As the medical team approached the corner, it was noted that the cornerman of Singh appeared to put the shoulder back in place, much to the discomfort of the fighter.
The fighter was taken to the medical room for a full assessment. It was the conclusion of Sarah Giddings of Rutland Medical Solutions Limited that the shoulder had most likely been dislocated and the fighter was advised to attend the local hospital for a full x-ray to ensure that there was no damage to bone or nerves. The fighter refused this take this advice despite transport being made available by the medical team. With no other injury noted, the fighter maintains the right of refusal and his ultimate decision was not to attend the hospital. Potential risks were explained in detail of the fighter, and Ibuprofen administered.
With the fighter refusing further medial treatment for the shoulder a minor injuries patient care form was issued by the medical team, which was noted and signed by 2x medical staff, fighter and supervisor. T
he fighter was advised to take this to a local A&E to explain what occurred should he wish further treatment.
The risk were fully explained to Simranjeet Singh should he not attend hospital on multiple occasions. With the signing of the patient care form the responsibility of care from the medical team, commission and promotor were effectively discharged.
