RTD – Nikitenko retires in corner at end of first round

Suspension:

Aleksejs Nikitenko 28 days

Notes:

Aleksejs Nikitenko was down twice in the first round, the second down was just as the bell rang to end the first round.

On the day before weigh-in late replacement opponent Nikitenko was considerably under the minimum weight for the division – as such it was decided that a second weigh-in would take place on the day.

Mr. Nikitenko replaced Aleksandrs Roldugins who pulled out in the week prior.

Mr. Reilly was also instructed that he must not exceed the division weights on second weigh in.

On the second weigh-in Mr. Nikitenko missed the minimum weight by a couple of ounces, however as Mr. Reilly had only added one and half pounds to his weight from the day previous weigh-in the contest was authorised as the weight difference was a more acceptable seven pounds

UPDATED RECORDS:

Paddy Reilly 4-0-0 and Aleksejs Nikitenko 0-3-0

Weights:

Jamie McGinnis          134lbs

Vladislavs Davidaitis  135 ½ lbs

Winner:

Referee:

Liam Bonner

Result:

RSC – 1 minute and 1 second of third round

Suspension:

N/A – see notes

Notes:

Vladislavs Davidaitis down once in second round and once in third round.

Referee Mr. Bonner stopped the contest immediately following Mr. Davidaitis being knocked down due to concern for the health and safety of Mr. Davidaitis as the way he dramatically went down, ending up through the ropes and head down it looked to not just Mr. Bonner but also myself and CMO Dr Louise Eccles at ringside that it was a probable serious knockout and that Mr. Davidaitis would require immediate medical attention, however Mr. Davidaitis was quickly up on his feet and not injured in anyway.

I feel that I should state that to my view that Mr. Bonner acted in the spirit of the BIBA rules regarding knockdowns and possible injuries.

I appreciate Mr. Bonner’s actions and I feel more referees should take note as far too many injuries have been sustained in our sport due to referees allowing contests to continue longer than they should following knockdowns etc.

UPDATED RECORDS:

Jamie McGinnis 2-0-0 and Vladislavs Davidaitis 2-6-0
