Notes:

Mr Lake, Mr Wardrope, Mr Edwards, Ms Pain, Ms Abbey and her Coach agreed to Carla Fox be the sole ring official for the Championship contest and being scoring referee for the event due to travel issues caused by Storm Eunice prevented other officials including Championship Referee Lee Murtagh and judges Adrian Thorne and Steve Tighe reaching the venue.

Substantial notes re this contest included in BIBA Internal Event Report submitted to BIBA Board on the 20th February 2022.

UPDATED RECORDS:

Laura Pain 2-1-0 & Mary Aina Abbey 4-0-0

Additional Notes:

On Thursday 17th February 2022 numerous boxers due to compete on the event were unable to attend the weigh in due to a number of issues.

It should be noted; that due to visa issues, we knew prior to the date of the event that certain contests, such as Joseph Lamptey, who was due to fight Neeraj Goyat, Raphael King who was due to box Parmod Kumar and Ishmael Nettey who was due to box Sandeep Kumar would not take place

Powel Sowik, who was due to box Mark Ellins, missed his flight. Mr Ennis’ manager arranged for Sowik to fly over on the morning of the 18th February, however due to Storm Eunice was unable to fly.

A meeting was convened with all the boxers and their managers/coaches that were able to attend as well as Promoter Trevor Lake and World Boxing Foundation (WBF) UK Representative Chris Wardrope.

At the meeting it was agreed by all parties that the event can proceed with a drastically reduced card, which meant that the updated match-ups would need to be agreed

On the morning of the 18th February 2022 with Storm Eunice in full flow I received a call from appointed Championship referee Mr Lee Murtagh that he was unable to continue travelling and will not be able to attend. Mr Murtagh provide video of incidents that had taken place as he attempted to journey south, these videos showed numerous heavy goods vehicles blown over and blocking the routes south.

Around the same time received messages from Judge Adrian Thorne, who coincidently was travelling from the same area as Mr Murtagh and he too had experienced similar incidents and was unable to attend as well as from Judge Carla Fox, who informed me that she was travelling to the venue but on her own and not with the third appointed Judge Mr Steven Tighe, who had become too ill to travel.

As Ms Fox is an A Class Referee I proposed to Mr Lake and Mr Wardrope that the event would still be able to go ahead if everyone agree that two championship contests would be officiated and scored by Ms Fox only.

Mr Lake, Mr Wardrope, Mr Edwards, Ms Pain, Ms Abbey and her Coach, Mr Ellins, Mr Singh and his coach all agreed to Carla Fox be the sole ring official for the Championship contest and being scoring referee for the event.

On Ms Fox’s arrival I explained the situation and she agreed to be the scoring referee, however she had not been expecting to be referring and did not have her ring outfit with her. Ms Fox went to local store and bought some pumps and a white t-shirt, which were more suitable for the role than the footwear and top she arrived at the venue wearing.

A number of BIBA officials were also unable to make it to the event due to transport/weather issues and as it was agreed that myself, Gianluca Di Caro, would undertake the roles of both official record keeper and timekeeper. I would also assist Mr Peter Field who was the only Inspector that actually was able to make the event, being based locally.
