Iain Weaver’s original opponent Emmanuel Addo (12-1-1) was refused his visa, Victor Ray Ankrah (8-3-0) was booked as a late replacement as he already had a visa, but failed to make the journey.

The matchmaker in Ghana sent Michael Barnor, who Iain Weaver fought as a replacement for Emmanuel Addo for the original title fight back on June 30th, as a replacement without promoter or Mr Weaver’s knowledge until his actually arrival.

Originally the contest was to be for 12 Rounds for the Professional Boxing Council (PBC) Commonwealth Championship but was changed to an 8 Round PBC International Silver Championship as Michael Barnor’s record was not deemed sufficient for the Commonwealth Championship.
